Welcome to Computer Science & Engineering

 

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology is one of the vibrant tech savvy and acclaimed departments in Karnataka. The Department has grown leaps and bounds over the years, which is witnessed by the various accreditation and ranking agencies such as NBA, NIRF etc.

The Computer Science and Engineering Department offers B.E(Computer Science and Engg). M.Tech.(Computer Science and Engg) and Ph.D.(Computer Science and Engg). The Syllabi of these programmes are designed with focus on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Sales Force Lightning and Robotic Process Automation by considering the requirement of time as well as the demand of the IT industry. The Department offers both M.Tech.(CSE) and Ph.D.(CSE) programmes in order to provide an opportunity to the young and enthusiastic IT professionals to have an extra edge, that makes a vital difference and contribute towards the ongoing IT research and development.

The guidance and cooperation of the experienced and expert faculty members of the department and strong alumni association are the attracting features of the department, which has helped the students to outgrow beyond their limitations. The Department has state of the art class rooms, well equipped computing labs for research scholars, undergraduate and post graduate students.

As a result of holistic development activities including curricular co-curricular extra- curricular conducted throughout the academic years, the students graduating from the department get placed in the leading IT industries even before the completion of their final semesters. There are plethora of companies, like TCS, Infosys, PWC, Texas Instruments, Mercedez Benz (R&D), Robert Bosch, Persistent Systems and Brillio etc. that recruit the passing out students each year through campus placement. The final semester students have the opportunity to work for four to six months as interns in the leading IT companies and other reputed R&D organizations.

 
Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)
1) The graduates will acquire core competence in basic science and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, analyze, and solve engineering problems and to pursue advanced study.
2) The graduates will acquire capabilities to succeed as computer engineering professionals with an aptitude for higher education and entrepreneurship.
3) The graduates will have the curiosity and desire of learning for life and self-confidence to adapt to changes.
4) The graduates will maintain high professionalism and ethical standards, effective oral and written communication skills, work as part of teams on multidisciplinary projects under diverse professional environments, and relate engineering issues in society, the global economy, and emerging technologies.
PSO 1 Problem solving skills: Ability to identify and analyze problems of varying complexity and propose solutions by applying fundamental knowledge acquired in the field of Computer Science & Engineering
PSO 2 Project development skills: Ability to apply design principles and demonstrate best practices of software development processes to solve real life problems.
PSO 3 Carrier advancement: Ability to demonstrate professional and leadership qualities required to pursue opportunities in Information Technology/self-employment/ higher studies.
  1. Course curriculum is designed by the experts from IBM, Accenture, IIIT Dharwad, Central University Hyderabad along with eminent Aluminus of KLSGIT, with a clear road map on latest technologies like AI&ML, Data Science and Robotic Process Automation.
  2. The department has in-place an active continuous learning program for both faculty and students on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Advanced Web Development.
  3. As the Department offers PG and PhD programmes, the Undergraduate students are involved in, solving Data Analysis Oriented Research problems and using of tools such as Python, R and Matlab.
  4. Our students are actively involved in the web development consultancy offered to KLS sister institutions and outside world.
  5. Department is one of the most active members of Computer Society of India student Chapter (a National Level Computer Science Organization), which hosts Tech Fests, Webinars, Coding Events, Tech Quizzes regularly.
  6. Industry driven subjects like, Sales Force and Robotic Process Automation are offered to the students of 6 th semester as professional electives.
  7. Open Ended Real Life scenarios are defined as lab experiments, which motivate the students to think critically & out of the box.
  8. Department offers the inter disciplinary courses like Data Structures, Data Base Management System, Python Programming, Object Oriented Programming with Java, that will help the other branch students in their placements.
  9. Curriculum includes Lab integrated courses like C++, Python, JAVA and IOT etc., which help the students to get more practical approach towards the core concepts of Computer Science.
  10. Our students are exposed to interdisciplinary projects offered by the various Engineering Departments, as it will help them to gain knowledge about various domains.
  11. The department trains the students in standard AI/ML and Data Science tools such as Python, RPA and Salesforce Lightning.
  12. Department has academic association with highly reputed institutes like Stanford university, USA and Shibhura Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, which offer innovation fellowships and Internships.
  13. With state of the art industry expert training and mentorship our students are the consistent winners of Smart India Hackathon which is one of the prestigious events organized by Government of India, to provide Machine learning and Data Analytics based solutions to Real world problems.
  14. Soft skills training is added as part of regular academic curriculum which will help the students to clear the competitive and placement exams with aplomb.
  15. Department has strong Alumni association, which has helped the department to work on live projects in Artificial Intelligence and Web Development and organize activities like Expert talk, Webinars, Career Counselling and Placements etc.
  16. The Department has MoU with UiPath Academic Alliance to Expand Automation Talent Pool in KLSGIT. UiPath is the leading enterprise Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The company offers rich Machine learning based course content, learning materials, regular educator trainings and software tools, for both faculty and students.
